The basics
What is You+Me+AI?
A private chat for two people, with Silas in it. He remembers what you said, agreed and paid, and helps you both feel heard. It's for everyday things as well as hard ones.
Is Silas a real person?
No. Silas is an AI, and he'll always say so. He only knows what's in your chat, so he can get things wrong. When he does, tell him.
Is it free?
Yes. Joining and chatting are free. While we're testing, Silas has a daily limit of answers. Later, some extra characters and helpers will be paid. Silas stays free.
Who can I chat with?
For now, every new chat starts with us, while we test. Soon you'll get your own link to share, so anyone you choose can join you.
Can I choose a different AI?
Not yet. Silas comes with every chat, and he'll always be free. Soon you'll be able to choose another AI, such as a comedian or a relationship coach, or bring in more than one.
Can I use it for a group?
Groups are coming, with one AI or several: for a family, a neighbourhood watch, a body corporate, a stokvel or a team.
Does Silas take sides?
He's fair to you both. He makes sure you're both heard, and when the facts back one of you, he says so kindly. He never makes decisions for you.
Privacy and safety
Can the other person see what I ask Silas privately?
No. Ask Silas is just you and him, and it's never used in your shared chat. We've promised never to read private Ask Silas conversations.
How private is it, really?
While we're testing, Silas runs on Google's Gemini free tier, so Google may use what's sent to improve its products, and its staff may read it. Chats are stored on our servers, where we can see them to keep the app running. So for now, please don't share anything strictly private.
Is it end-to-end encrypted?
Not yet. End-to-end encryption, the kind WhatsApp uses, is coming, along with stronger security all round. Until then, please don't share anything strictly private.
Is this therapy, or legal advice?
No. It's an everyday chat, not a crisis line, therapy or legal advice. If anyone is in danger, call your local emergency number.
Can we delete everything?
Yes. Either of you can ask to wipe a chat. Once the other agrees, every message and the record are gone for both of you. To close your account, email hello@youandmeandai.com.
Your account
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, with no app store needed. Open youandmeandai.com in your phone's browser and add it to your home screen. Then turn on notifications so you know when someone replies.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, choose “Forgot your password?” and type the email you signed up with. We'll send a link there to choose a new one. It works once and lasts an hour. Nothing arrived? Check your spam folder, or email hello@youandmeandai.com.
